Craft space tips

Good morning, We have decided to do some remodeling/rearranging in our home to make a room for the baby. So, this means I am losing my craft space. Well, I think I have kept you all waiting long enough. Here is a new weekly challenge for you all to try. I hope you enjoy and it helps to get those creative juices flowing.

Each Thursday I will post a challenge with a specific theme, the kicker is you will need to add a "Splash" of a specified embellishment, color or technique to you card. Each week will have a different theme and a different "Splash" element. Then send me a comment on the post with a link to your blog with you finished art work.

Thinking, thinking, thinking

Today I have a couple cards to post, except I haven't taken pictures yet. I have been thinking instead. Trying to think of an original challenge theme to share with everyone each week. There are so many challenges going on and I want to make this original. I am still in the thought process, but hopefully I will have a 'Light bulb' go off soon so we can get started. I want to keep it simple, fresh and easy for you and for me. I know life is busy, but we always want an excuse to be creative. At least that is how my life is, as a mom of twin teenager sons, pre-teen daughter and baby on the way, along with a husband, church, work (teaching elementary), housework and all of the other things requiring hours of attention. Now, don't get my wrong, I am not complaining, I am actually celebrating the blessings in my life! Well, enough of my rambling. I will post my card photos soon. Thanks for 'listening' to my thoughts.

Hi everyone, I am finally updating! Life sure has been interesting since my last post. My family and I have had a hurricane (Ike) to deal with and during this time I found out we were expecting another baby! I have had some complications, but everything is great now. Baby is growing fast, kicking, and it's a BOY!!! We are so excited! Now, we are adding on to the house. Busy, busy, busy! Here are some cards that I have recently put together, I hope you enjoy. I took the chance and tried using my husbands camera and guess what... It worked!

This first card is my try at the Two way open card by Beth Warner. It was easier than I thought it would be. Thanks to some awesome directions given. Here is a shortcut for you ~ Two Way Open Card.

Cardstock used : Only Orange, Apricot Appeal, Night of Navy, Whisper White. Image was a PIF image received in the mail. Colored with Bic Permanent Markers. Stampin' Up Rub on used on front and inside of card. Ribbon and Buttons: Old Olive.

This Heartfelt card was cased from Paper Crafts magazine. I changed the sentiment and color of ribbon, but the layout is the same. This is a fun, easy layout that can be adapted to any card, color or stamp.

I used SU designer paper to create the heart shape. Die cut stickers were added to the tag, along with 'a happy hello' sentiment, brad, and ribbon.

Well, it has been crazy around here! We, thankfully, avoided the worst of Hurricane Gustav. We have been home off work and school so I have used the time to get creative. I have made several cards, which are ready to be posted. However, I left my camera at work. I will return on Thursday (the schools are closed until then), and hopefully be able to post pictures Thursday night.

Well, I finally made it home from vacation. My daughter and I had a wonderful time sleeping late, shopping, swimming, visiting family, bowling, going to the water park, site seeing, visiting the Carousel Museum and the Marble Factory, and eating out. It was a very nice and relaxing two week get away.

While I was away I received this birthday card in the mail and wanted to share it with you.

Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I thought I would share this bouncing brayer technique. Check out this tutorial (Bouncing Brayer) This is one of my favorite ways to make backgrouds. Don't you just love the 'explosion' effect? If you haven't tried this yet, it is easier than you think. Let me know when you finish yours, I would love to see your creativity.

Christmas in July

No, it isn't Christmas season yet, but isn't fun to get a head start. Today's "Holiday Wednesday Challenge" is Christmas.... turn on some festive music and have fun... The technique used on this card is bouncing brayer... this is now my favorite tequnique. I embossed the tree from Trim the Tree set in gold on designer paper. Here is an early "Merry Christmas" to all :)

Cool Texture

Texture Tuesday is here again!!! I enjoyed making this cool card... doesn't make you feel refreshed?!...For today's Texture challenge I used Mulberry paper for the texture. (Remember, this challenge is to use anything to add texture to your project). The Aloha stamp set was perfect with the tempting torquoise and green galore colors. Now, find that mulberry paper you have stashed away and get to stamping.... most of all... have fun!

Color Splash Monday

Here it is...Mondays challenge..."Color Splash". The rules are to use only one color (besides white) on your card...nope... not even basic black. On this card I first stamped and off stamped the background using pixie pink and the "Dots are Hot" set. Next I stamped the girraffe in pixie pink and the "Wild about you" set. I added two white brads and some ribbon. Oh, I aso used the ticket punch on the corners. Well, what do you think? This could work great for a new baby or a little girls birthday party and it was easy.... I like my cards to be demonstratable, simple and easy.

Here is another recipe card for a swap I am participating in from SCS. I used the tart & Tangy stamp set (which is one of my favorite). The button looks black in the picture, but it is actually a hunter green color... it matches the stem on the strawberry. I guess I need to work on lighting for my pictures :) The size of the card is 6 x 6.... perfect to make a recipe book. Who know... I may have a book to show you later on. Thanks for looking...

"Thankful Thursday" Challenge

- Today's challenge will be to stock up on those thank you cards. You never know when you will need one. Here is my sample for today. I always make two of every card. I take a picture and save in my "creative projects" file on my desktop. Then I can send these cards off and still have a visual sample. Here is the recipe:

July 4th Gator

Wednesdays will be "Holiday Wednesday" - the challenge is to make a holiday card. It can be for any holiday you choose. I hope this will help me get all of those holiday cards made up in advance. Today I decided on, of course, 4th of July. I just love this gator from the Wild About You set. The stars and colors turn this into the perfect July card. It could also be used for a birthday card... whatever you want. Just use your imagination and have fun!

Apple Crisp - Recipe Card

Happy Wednesday! I made this fun recipe card (Size 6 x 6) for a swap from SCS. This is the first recipe card I have made... I think I will make more... The colors are Cranberry Crisp, And Always Artichoke. I used the Tart & Tangy stamp set (which I just love!!)

Textured Tuesday - Challenge

My first challenge is this "Flower of Wonder" card (named by my daughter) . The challenge is to get out that textured paper that we are all saving and get creative. I wanted to think outside of the box and provide challenges that are different from other blogs... so Tuesdays are "Textured Tuesdays". The idea is to make a project using anthing textured. Since I have textured card stock that I have been saving for some odd reason....I thought, why not? This will give me a reason for using it instead of saving it. So, here it is.

O.k. here is today's creative project. This card is easy and can be used for many different occassions. Colors used are: cardstock - Whisper White, Blue Bayou and So Saffron; Ink - Basic Black; Accessories - Ribbon (blue bayou- double stiched); Stamps sets - Ladybuds, Noteworthy; Other - DP - Spring Fling; Watercolor Pencils.

I think I will make some of these into Thank you cards.

Hi, everyone. I hope you are enjoying your summer. Welcome to my blog. I will be posting creative project ideas. I hope you return often to see what is going on in my world and to share what is going on in yours. Let me know what you would like to see. This is my first blog site... so all suggestions to get started are welcome.

Well, here is my first upload. This set of cards was made with the Fresh Cut stamp set. These were easy and fun to make. I chose a color, stamped the backround image on the Fresh Cut die cut cards. Then I cut cardstock in the matching color and adhered in to the inside of the card where it would show through the die cut image. Add buttons to match, punch circles add a caption, and attach to corner of the card.
